Identification

Flower: Yellow, dandelion-like flowers in loose clusters that bloom from early summer to fall.

Leaves: Basal rosettes with deeply lobed, toothed margins, the leaves decrease in size further up the stem.

Stems: Erect, slender, and usually branched, covered with soft hairs.

Growing Environment: Prefers disturbed soils, open fields, meadows, pastures, and roadsides.

Growth Habit: This annual herb grows rapidly, typically reaching heights of 30-100 cm. It forms a low basal rosette during early growth stages, then sends up a tall, slender stem topped with bright yellow flowers. In situ, it often appears in scattered patches in open or disturbed habitats and can be easily mistaken for a tall dandelion.
