BC Parks have been hard at work reducing the spread of invasive species by installing boot brush stations at trailheads throughout the province! Boot brush stations are a great tool, as they promote and encourage trail users to remove any plant matter on boots that may belong to invasive species and take root in other recreational areas. Remember to Play, Clean, Go!.
If you’ve been out to the Greenway trailhead behind UNBC in Prince George, you’ve seen our latest boot brush addition! Boot brushes are designed to reduce the spread of invasive plant species between trails and can be used before and after walking or hiking. If you see this one, or others, on your travels, feel free to use them and know you’ve done your part to help Stop the Spread! Thank you to UNBC masters student Fenja Neuman for her partnering with us for her research, which resulted in the implementation of this boot brush station.
