Our Mission and Structure

About Us

The Northwest Invasive Plant Council is dedicated to protecting the unique ecosystems of Northwest British Columbia from the spread of invasive plant species. We work to prevent new introductions, control existing populations, and reduce the impacts of invasive species on our natural landscapes, wildlife, and communities.

Education Outreach

Our Regional Impact

From the interior valleys to the coastal areas of northwest BC and Haida Gwaii, our work targets key invasive species that threaten the health of native ecosystems. We aim to preserve the natural beauty and ecological integrity of local and regional ecosystems in northwest British Columbia.

The NWIPC has divided the area into eight invasive plant management areas (IPMAs) in order to undertake invasive plant management over geographically defined areas.

Regional Partners

Invasive Species Council of BC

The Invasive Species Council of BC is a collaborative-based non-profit organization committed to reducing the spread and impacts of non-native species within BC. The ISCBC focuses on uniting efforts of the various partners working on invasive species management in BC, educating and informing British Columbians, coordinating and communicating research efforts, and offering training programs.

NWIPC is one of 13 Regional Invasive Species Organizations (RISOs).

With the common mandate to stop the spread of invasive species throughout BC, they work closely and collaboratively with the other RISOs, sharing knowledge and expertise regarding on-the-ground invasive species management, working together on consistent messaging for education & outreach programs, and collaborating on program ideas.
